If you are marketing online some of the concepts you need to learn are article marketing, search engine optimization, ppc, and blogs.

Article Marketing

This is when you write articles that pertain to the type of business that you run. Then submit those articles to the article directories and some of the people that read your article will come back to your site to learn more. Some of those people that come back to your site may purchase your product or your service.

Search Engine Optimization

SEO is how you get your site to the top of the search engines. Once your site is on top you will get an abundance of visitor to your site. Again some of these visitors will buy your product or service. To get to the top you need to learn the skills required to use seo. Some easy ones are keyword research, and anchor text linking. Using proper keywords on your site will help your placing in the search engines, and by having links to your site will help the search engines find you. And the search engines love anchor text.

Pay Per Click

Often called ppc. This is the ads you see on the side of the organic listings when you search for something. These are also seen on websites that are of similar types as your websites. The benefit to ppc is that for only a little bit of money you will be at the top of the search engines fast. Now the way this works is if you have a keyword that is very popular this may cost you more money. So you will want to do some keyword research and find other keywords that may not be used as much. At least until you are making money from this style of marketing.

Blogs

These are web logs where people go and write about anything. You can use this as a second or third website and have a link back to your site. The nice thing about blogs is they get found by the search engines very fast and will give you lots of visitors for 0 cost. Not as good as other forms of marketing, and may not stand alone, but for the cost and time very much worth your effort.

Offline Marketing Tips For Websites

Some offline marketing tips you can use for websites are the same as for any business. You can use postcard marketing, direct mail, newspaper, radio, and referrals.

Postcard Marketing

To do this effectively you need to build strong copywriting skills. A strong headline will have people read the postcard and follow through to the offer. Then your offer can be a reason to go to your website, where once they get there they will get a free gift of some sort. Then after giving them the gift a certain number will become clients.

Direct Mail

Same as postcard marketing, except you are writing a full length sales letter. Many times we think people will come to our site because we give them something free. But in reality you still need to sell them the free gift. Doesn’t make sense does it? Have to sell them a FREE gift lol. But if you think about it, nothing is free, these people will have to take the time to get the gift and if they do not believe the gift is worth their time then being free does not mean anything.

Newspaper

Same as above, you need to have good copywriting skills and be able to test your ads. Start small, and track your results, as you make money grow from there.

Radio

Even with this you need good copywriting skills. Are you starting to see a pattern here lol. The difference here is you can have a different set of emotions in this type of ad, since people will be hearing other people tell a story with enthusiasm, instead of having to create that with your writing skills.

Referral Marketing

This is the best type of marketing you can have. I am sure you have had referrals from clients in the past and getting them is a bonus. The easiest way to do referral marketing is by getting an existing client to refer someone mailing address to you then send that person a newsletter, or a coupon of some sort.
