What Is A RRSP?

What is a rrsp? An rrsp is short for a registered retirement savings plan. An rrsp will give you money for when you retire. And unlike a rsp which is still for retirement this is registered. Meaning that you will be given a tax break by buying a rrsp either before the deadline or through out the year you are taxed on. So if you make a certain amount of money and invest 18% of that money into an rrsp you will get a tax credit that will either give you a tax refund or that you will not have to pay as much income tax.

The whole rrsp system is set up for you to defer paying tax on any money that you save for your retirement. There is different rrsp investments and you will need to talk to a broker or a banker to find out which ones will work best for you. There is also different rates of returns for each investment, and you will want to know your risk tolerances before investing in something that is outside your comfort zone.
